A prestigious nursing home in Sydney is under investigation after reports of Nursing home abuse and neglect.
According to reports, the Federal Department of Health and Ageing (FDHA) confirmed that the Lulworth House, one of the most extravagant nursing homes in Australia, is being investigated after receiving three different complaints from the loved ones of patients residing in the nursing home. The nursing home has been accused of severe neglect and abuse.
In addition to the complaints, a nursing assistant and former employee of Lulworth House has also expressed concerns. According to the nursing assistant, she quit her job at Lulworth House after witnessing negligent caregiving:
“In my opinion St Lukes management was concerned more about money, and care was secondary. Despite the high fees charged, there was cost cutting for resident management. The place had a very high turnover of nursing assistant staff – the reason is the amount of workload when so few nursing assistants were employed on the floor.”
According to the spokesperson for FDHA, if the nursing home is found to have violated the legislative requirements that are mandated for all nursing homes in Australia, action will be taken immediately. Meanwhile, loved ones and victims are urged to retain the services of a nursing home abuse lawyers.
