Swiss Nursing Home Worker Admits to Sexual Nursing Home Abuse of 114 People
February 2, 2011
A Swiss man has admitted to sexually abusing 114 people over 29 years as he worked in nursing homes throughout Switzerland and Germany. Among the victims are disabled adults and children of nursing home employees.
The 54-year-old man was arrested last April after two disabled nursing home residents told their parents they had sex with him. In addition to the sexual abuse of 114 people, the man admitted to attempting to abuse another eight people. The victims were usually young men, some either mentally or physically disabled.
Police say the man sexually abused several children, with the youngest victim being only one year old at the time of the abuse.
The man was investigated for sexually abusing a mentally disabled 13-year-old girl in 2003; however, the case was dropped due to experts doubting the girl’s allegations of abuse.
The Swiss man worked in a total of nine nursing homes throughout Switzerland and Germany over the past 29 years.
Although sexual nursing home abuse on such a large scale as this is rare, sexual nursing home abuse in general is unfortunately a common form of nursing home abuse. If you or a loved one is a victim of sexual abuse in a nursing home you need to report the abuse to authorities immediately and contact a nursing home abuse lawyer to discuss your legal options.
