Nursing Home Admins Charged in Sexual Nursing Home Abuse Case
February 26, 2012
The Iowa Board of Nursing Home Administrators have charged two nursing home administrators with concealing sexual nursing home abuse between residents.
This is the first time in about a decade that the board had charged individuals with negligence.
The former director of the state agency that regulates nursing homes says action against administrators and others in positions of authority is needed. He went on to say that nursing home staff are often scapegoated for the negligence of higher ups.
Both administrators are charged with professional incompetence and negligence. They are accused of intentionally covering up sexual abuse between residents at their nursing homes.
Sexual abuse and other forms of abuse in nursing homes is a serious problem throughout our country. Abuse or neglect needs to be reported to the authorities immediately.
We also advise you to contact a nursing home abuse lawyer to discuss legal action against the nursing home or those responsible for the abuse or neglect.
