Nursing Home Abuse Issues Raised at Irish Nursing Home
November 12, 2011
A nursing home is Cork, Ireland is the subject of concern after an investigation revealed some nursing home abuse related issues.
An investigation by the Health Information and Quality Authority found the following deficiencies: nursing home abuse related training was not being given to all staff; fire drills were not being conducted; care plans were not appropriately updated; there were 48 residents at the facility though it is registered for 47; there was an exposed cable in one room; and one unregistered room was being occupied by a resident.
The nursing home has responded by saying that all problems found in the inspection will be corrected, and the use of the unregistered room was due to “mitigating circumstances”.
Even minor deficiencies at nursing homes have the potential to turn into larger problems of abuse and neglect. If you think that your loved one is being abuse or neglected in any way at their nursing home you should report your concerns to authorities immediately and contact a nursing home abuse lawyer.
