Inspectors Say Nursing Home Put Residents at Risk for Nursing Home Abuse
April 28, 2011
A nursing home abuse and neglect inspection at The Lauriston Christian Nursing Home on The Green, St Leonards, England found 13 standards that the nursing home failed to meet, including failing to protect residents from possible abuse.
The nursing home, which focuses on caring for people with cancer, Parkinson’s, and multiple sclerosis, received a visit from inspectors after “a serious incident where a resident was harmed,” according to the Care Quality Commission.
Among the problems found by inspectors was the nursing home failed to provide residents with safe and appropriate care, and proper food and medicine. Inspectors also found that staff were too few and under-trained.
The nursing home must now draw up an action plan to correct it’s shortcomings which will be monitored by the Care Quality Commission.
Nursing home abuse and neglect are problems faced by the elderly and their families all over the world. Here in the U.S. you are advised to contact a nursing home abuse lawyer immediately if you suspect abuse or neglect of a loved one in a nursing home.
