Australian Nursing Home Raided After Reported Nursing Home Abuse
March 14, 2011
The Aged Care Complaints Investigation Scheme of Australia recently raided William Cape Gardens nursing home following allegation of nursing home abuse. Investigators gathered evidence and conducted interviews with staff, residents, and family members of residents.
Mark Butler, Minister for the Aged Care Department, said problems of abuse in the nursing home were systemic and his department is in talks with the police.
In addition to prior allegations of abuse, another person has come forward saying her father was allowed to waste away after only three months at William Cape Gardens nursing home. She says her father’s weight dropped down to 40kg and he was subjected to terrible abuse by his caregivers.
Although shocking, abuse of our elderly in nursing homes is not uncommon. If your loved one has been a victim of nursing home abuse or neglect we urge you to contact a nursing home abuse lawyer and help put an end to this growing problem.
