An elderly female resident at a Suffolk, Virginia nursing home is in critical condition after being attacked by a 42-year-old man. The man, also a resident at the facility, has been arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding.

The nursing home abuse took place at Oakwood Assisted Living Facility sometime before 6:30 p.m yesterday evening. The 92-year-old woman sustained severe facial injuries in the attack and had to be taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where she is in critical condition.

The attacker is being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.

When a nursing home resident is attacked by another resident, the nursing home may be at fault for not taking the proper precautions to protect residents from other potentially dangerous residents.

Any situation involving nursing home abuse can be quite complicated and we recommend you contact a nursing home abuse lawyer to make sure the situation is handled properly.
