A Virginia nursing home is accused of not reporting the sexual abuse of two female residents by a male nurse’s aide.

The sexual nursing home abuse allegedly occurred at Envoy Nursing Home in Staunton, Virginia starting last January. A 53-year-old and 43-year-old female resident both say a nurse’s aide sexually assaulted them. Police did not find out about the abuse until a family member of an alleged victim came forward.

Police say the nursing home administrator knew about the abuse allegations but did not report the incident to police. The administrator is now facing a civil charge for failing to properly report the accusation.

The 47-year-old man accused of the abuse is out of jail on bond but faces aggravated sexual battery and misdemeanor sexual battery charges.

This tragic story highlights the need for family and loved ones of nursing home residents to be vigilant in noticing the sign of nursing home abuse and reporting any suspicions of abuse or neglect to the police immediately. Unfortunately, nursing home administrators and staff do not always have your loved ones best interest in mind.

Contacting a nursing home abuse lawyer is also a great way to ensure justice is served for any negligence on the part of the nursing home.
