A senior nurse at Hilton Gardens nursing home in Scotland is accused of grabbing the neck of an elderly dementia patient and force feeding her. The same nursing home has been the subject of another recent scandal in which a worker raped a dementia patient and sexually abused others at the nursing home.
The senior nurse currently accused of abuse allegedly violently put the elderly resident in a chair and forced food into her mouth with a spoon. As the deputy manager of the nursing home she also faces 16 charges of failing to update resident care plans. In total, she has been issued 22 charges of misconduct.
The nurse recently appeared before a hearing of the Nursing and Midwifery Council in Edinburgh, which is still ongoing. She has denied most of the charges.
The former Hilton Gardens worker found guilty of rape and other sexual nursing home abuse was sentenced last month to seven years in jail.
Our loved ones in nursing homes deserve to be treated with respect at all times–from bed sores to sexual abuse, no form of abuse should be tolerated. When you suspect a loved one is being abused or neglected in a nursing home, it is time to contact a qualified nursing home abuse attorney and fight back against this injustice.
