A report out of England says two care workers at the same nursing home have recently been sentenced to jail time for nursing home abuse.
One case involves a 21-year-old man admitting to four charges of abusing elderly residents.
The other case involves a care worker failing to call a doctor for a seriously ill woman, which resulted in the patient dieing. The care worker was sentenced to nine months in prison.
Too many patients, not enough staff, and poor staff training seem to have played a large role in the abuse and neglect.
We encourage you to make frequent visits to your loved ones in their nursing home. In addition to the companionship you provide you should also be on the look out for sign of nursing home abuse or neglect.
If you believe a loved one is being abused you need to first get the person out of immediate danger by contacting the police. We also recommend you get in touch with a nursing home abuse lawyer who can help you explore your legal rights.
