A former employee at Independence House nursing home in Fostoria, Ohio has been charged with one count of patient abuse for allegedly continually abusing a 94-year-old female resident.
The woman is accused of pulling the elderly resident’s hair and pinching her nose to the point where it left marks.
The nursing home abuse was reported to police by a nursing home supervisor and eyewitness employees.
In addition to the police investigation, the nursing home also conducted their own internal investigation.
The Fostoria Police Chief says the nursing home has been cooperative and have handled the situation in the correct way.
The charge of patient abuse is a fourth degree felony. The accused woman has a preliminary hearing on January 26th.
After the abuse has been reported to police and the victim is no longer in danger, the victim or family of the victim are advised to contact a nursing home abuse lawyer to pursue legal action against the abuser or nursing home.
