Park Haven Home in Ashtabula, Ohio has closed after a methamphetamine lab fire started in a resident’s room and an investigation found other nursing home abuse issues.
The meth lab fire killed one man who was not a resident nor did he work at the nursing home. Two other men were burned in the fire and police say they expect to charge the men for their involvement in the meth lab and subsequent fire.
An investigation at the nursing home uncovered that it was in violation of federal regulations.
The facility has since closed and the former residents have all been moved to other nursing homes.
In total, one man died and six other people were injured in the fire.
Often times it is nursing homes that do not follow federal and state regulations that are the site of severe abuse and neglect, as is evident in this bizarre and tragic case. A nursing home abuse lawyer can help you and your family discuss your legal options if abuse or neglect in a nursing home becomes an issue.
