A Texas news station has found that The Lake Worth Nursing Home in Fort Worth, Texas is caring for sex offenders, convicted felons, and prison parolees. The news station discovered that these criminals are not in need of nursing care but could be found out and about in the community, riding bikes, shopping, smoking and drinking.

The nursing home receives taxpayer money which has led to state regulatory authorities and lawmakers questioning if these people qualify for Medicaid funded nursing home care.

Of course a more obvious and dangerous concern is the threat these criminals, some of whom are sex offenders, pose to other nursing home residents and staff, and the community. Those living close to the nursing home have described the neighborhood as feeling like a jail with the criminals in the community.

“These people could potentially pose a problem for the people who work there, for the patients, and the neighborhood. I worry about that,” said Senator Jane Nelson.

If you or a loved one has been a victim of nursing home abuse it is very important you contact a good nursing home abuse lawyer to discuss your situation. You may be entitled to financial compensation and by speaking out against abuse in nursing homes you can help prevent further abuse.
