We’d like to take a moment to direct our visitors to a great resource to help them if they suspect a loved one is being abused or neglected in a his or her nursing home or assisted living facility.
The following is a link to locate your local ombudsman, state agencies, and citizen advocacy groups that can provide you with the help you need following a suspicion or certainty of nursing home abuse: http://www.ltcombudsman.org/ombudsman.
If you think a loved one is in immediate danger you should call 911 immediately. But often abuse or neglect in nursing homes can be complex and the groups found in the above link can help you navigate through these issues and get you and your loved one the help you need.
We also highly recommend you get in touch with a nursing home abuse lawyer who can help you explore your legal options. Taking legal action against a nursing home can bring the victim or victim’s family financial compensation if the nursing home or staff were negligent in caring for a nursing home resident.
Taking legal action also sends a powerful message that can help prevent nursing home abuse in the future.
