Normandy Nursing Center in Missouri is being investigated for nursing home abuse following allegations from a resident’s sister that her brother nearly died as a result of severe abuse and neglect.
The 37-year-old disabled man who was allegedly abused was hospitalized due to malnourishment, dehydration, and respiratory and renal failure. Furthermore, the man’s sister says his ventilator was almost turned off because of instructions from the man’s guardian that he not be resuscitated or intubated.
The man’s sister claims the nursing home and the man’s guardian were not giving the man proper treatment and did not recognize his health problems. He is currently hospitalized and in serious condition.
