An investigation into abuse allegations at the Deseret Nursing and Rehabilitation home of Wichita, Kansas found no evidence of wrong doing. The investigation was prompted when doctors treated a resident of the nursing home who had open sores and maggots on his feet.
The 67-year-old man was brought to the hospital after having chest pains and doctors discovered evidence of what appeared to be nursing home neglect. The man also said he was being mistreated at the nursing home.
Despite this, the Kansas Department on Aging says their investigation showed that the allegations of nursing home abuse could not be substantiated.
Nursing home abuse and neglect is a serious problem throughout our country. The signs of abuse and neglect should not be ignored and should be reported to the authorities immediately. You should also contact an experienced nursing home abuse lawyer if you or a family member was a victim of nursing home abuse.
