A recent article in the Seattle Times highlighted the importance hidden cameras are playing throughout the country in the fight against nursing home abuse.

According to the National Committee for the Prevention of Elder Abuse cameras in nursing homes are being used more now than ever before. Examples of these cameras, sometimes called “granny cams”, thwarting nursing home abuse include 22 New York nursing home workers being arrested last year after hidden cameras revealed abuse; and last spring in Ohio, a hidden camera in a desk fan caught two workers physically abusing an elderly female nursing home resident.

While opinions on the effectiveness and appropriateness of these “granny cams” differ, the general consensus is that cameras have proven to be another important tool in the ongoing battle against nursing home abuse.

Also important in ending abuse in nursing homes is the role of a nursing home abuse lawyer who can help you and your family get the justice you deserve if nursing home abuse occurs.
