A former aide at MetroHealth Medical Center nursing home has pleaded guilty to seven counts of patient abuse or neglect after a hidden camera showed her abusing an elderly resident at the nursing home.
The hidden camera was placed by the son of the abused female resident after he grew increasingly worried that his mother was being mistreated at the facility. The camera showed the former aide pushing the woman’s face and throwing her into a wheelchair. Video also shows other instances of aids mocking and abusing the resident.
Another aide was caught spraying the woman in the face with something and will soon face trial for patient abuse.
An attorney for the family says the former aids were probably abusive to other patients as well–the difference being that abuse was not caught on camera.
MetroHealth has responded by saying they do not tolerate any patient abuse and all employees involved in the nursing home abuse have been fired.
A nursing home abuse lawyer can help you and your family get justice if a member of your family is abused or neglected in a nursing home.
