On the heels of a recent nursing home abuse investigation at St. John’s Place nursing home in St. Louis, Missouri, another family has come forward saying their now hospitalized relative was a victim of neglect.
The daughter-in-law of the alleged victim came forward to a local news station to report her suspicions that her mother-in-law was neglected. She said the 68-year-old’s right arm was starting to turn green and she was forced to call a doctor. The doctor advised her that the woman needs to be in the ER. The nursing home reportedly called an ambulance after a two hour wait.
The alleged victim is currently in the hospital with a separated shoulder and fractured elbow. The daughter-in-law also said the woman has bruises, but she doesn’t know if they are from a fall or otherwise.
The abuse case currently being investigated involves an elderly woman with cuts and bruises. The nursing home says the woman fell when she was transported out of her wheelchair and into her bed. They deny she was abused.
Nursing home injuries are very common and many are preventable. If you or a family member was injured in a nursing home you should contact a nursing home abuse attorney as you may be entitled to financial compensation for any negligence on the part of the nursing home.
