A nurse boss at Heritage Court Nursing Home in Lichfield, Staffordshire, England has been found guilty of a number of nursing home abuse related charges, including allowing a man under her care to die without calling him a doctor.
The woman also hit residents, poured hot tea on a man, encourages patients to fight, and locked residents in the garden if they bothered her, even refusing to bring one resident inside on a hot day.
The disgraced nursing home boss had to answer to a Nursing and Midwifery Council disciplinary panel for the allegations against her. Although she denied all of the charges, the panel found the nurse guilty of serious misconduct.
In total, the woman had 12 allegations of abuse against her with multiple Heritage Court staff members testifying against her.
Often, problems of nursing home abuse and neglect are perpetuated due to negligent nursing home administrators. If you have a loved one in a nursing home we encourage you to make frequent visits looking for signs of abuse and neglect. Any suspicions of abuse need to be reported to the police right away and you should also contact a nursing home abuse attorney.
